"Hotel Refund" Email Contains a Virus

Just a quick heads up, folks: there’s a new computer virus threat making the rounds.

This one targets Windows boxes, not Macs, and it’s delivered via email, with a subject line that seems to indicate you have a hotel refund waiting.

My first clue was: “Hey, I haven’t stayed in a hotel in a while.”

If that doesn’t apply to you, your first clue might be a hotel name you don’t recognize, or the fact that the message reads like it was written by a non-English speaker.

If you’ve opened the email, not-to-worry. But do not open the zip file that’s attached, just delete the whole thing.

“Hey, let’s be careful out there.”
